Cycles in our World

This Area of Study focuses on understanding that there are cycles in our world. Now that children have observed changes in Exploring Change in My World and examined how we adapt to those changes in Adapting to Our World, they have a foundation to discover basic cycles that exist around them. Cycles in Our World focuses on observing predictable patterns and using inquiry skills to gain a deeper understanding of the patterns and cycles around them. These include the cycle of a day, life cycles of plants and animals, seasons, physical growth and change over time. Teachers have the opportunity to follow the student’s interest and ‘go deep’ into one cycle at a time.
